There are twelve gods of Kala, a singularly undisputed fact amongst the peoples of the world. Each God or Goddess is much like the facet of a gem, unique, powerful, and changing.

In that there are twelve gods each a part of a great whole, there is no god of Evil or Goddess of Good. Each deity may have followers of many alignments, perhaps in separate temples, but sharing a common thread. This is by design, an active attempt by the ancient begins that found themselves tied to to the fates of the mortals of this world, as a way to perhaps curb the religious wars and world-engulfing conflicts that more monolithic faith systems can fuel.

Hah.

But despite the self-destructive nature of all those that can dream, there is a deep and abiding faith that to serve one is to serve the twelve, and that the twelve guard and protect all the peoples of the world.
